Luella Martin

Luella is a painter and printmaker and has been developing her work in these mediums for more than twenty years. Her reference is the real world and adds elements from her imagination in the studio - her aim is to communicate the atmosphere and “feel” of the place. Luella's oil paintings are quite intimate, delicate and brightly coloured. They are quite playful and convey her pleasure in the subject. Her monotype prints are bolder and larger and are executed in a three colour oil ink process, using a large etching press. Each piece is a one-off unique print and she sometimes continues to work into the print after it has gone through the press.

Educated in London. Studied at Hornsey & Byam Shaw Colleges Of Art. Post-graduate Studies at Goldsmiths College, London. Lectured in Textile Printing, Photography, Graphic Design & Screen-printing at The London College of Furniture (now Guildhall University) & West Sussex College of Design (now Northbrook College).
