Celia AllenCelia trained to be a potter at Hammersmith College of Art, where she studied ceramics, sculpture and glass. After qualifying (NDD) she set up a ceramics studio in Paris and also worked as in interior designer for architectural firms KLN. Ten years later, Celia returned to the UK, setting up her studio in East Sussex. In 1985 Celia became Head of Ceramics at St Leonards Mayfield School during which time she continued to work on her sculpture and exhibited in galleries throughout the South East. Celia now works full time at her studio. The main body of her work is sculptural, usually animal forms in either stoneware or raku. Her influences are the rural environment in which she lives and mythology. Celia is a member of the Rye Society of Artists. |
